Despite supporting seniors of differing abilities and at different stages in life, Parkview Meadows has a central area where many pastoral and recreational activities take place, and our residents are encouraged to socialize. Our many meeting rooms host a variety of events each week from Bible studies and movies to outreach groups and beauty therapy. Activities are open to all residents and even though we have our very own Program Services Manager who is responsible for activities within the center some, like bingo, are even run by residents themselves.
Bible Study and Weekly Church Service
Many residents in Valleyview and Brookview continue attending their own churches outside of Parkview but for those who can’t make it out to church, we have a worship service each Sunday at 1:30pm. These are located in the Southview Dining Hall. In addition to our weekly church services, Giant Hymn sings are on every 3rd Thursday of the month from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Keeping Active
In addition to keeping our seniors minds active, we firmly believe that keeping our seniors physically active and healthy is extremely important. As such, each weekday, you will find a variety of exercise classes including regular exercises, ball exercises, “Sit and Be Fit”. So, whatever your physical condition or skill level we have exercise classes for you.
Feel like a little more activity, Parkview is equipped with a gymnasium complete with weights, treadmills and exercise bikes.
For our Gardenview residents who are unable to get out and about by themselves, we even have 3 “wheelchair bikes” powered by one of our dedicated staff or keen volunteers. If interested in being able to use this with your loved one, contact our Program Services Manager.
Relaxing
When you’re not working at the gym, out enjoying one of the many themed events or are watching a production put on for us by visiting artists, why not drop into the Hair Salon for a quick trim. After that perhaps you could head down to the library and grab another thrilling novel. Pull up a comfortable seat at our courtyard cafe, read a while and chat to passing friends. Maybe one of them will stop and join you for a coffee or pop from the Tuck Shop or a candy bar from the vending machine.
