Long-Term care is for seniors who need significant assistance with living and undertaking basic daily tasks. Specifically, to be eligible for Long-Term care, individuals must:

  • Require 24-hour nursing care and daily personal support services
  • Be at risk in their own home
  • Unable to live independently in their own homes EVEN with an array of community support

Priority for access is determined by the Community Care Access Centre (Haldimand Norfolk Community Care Access Centre, 76 Victoria St. Simcoe, ON., N3Y 1L5)

Long-term care homes offer medical and personal support to seniors who need help around the clock. They are operated by private enterprise, local municipalities or charitable organizations like Parkview Meadows. Along the continuum of accommodations catering to seniors, long-tem care homes offer the most intensive level of supervision and medical services under one roof.

Long-term care is not for well seniors who need assistance with meals and medications. For seniors needing that level of assistance, please look at our the assisted living services in our Southview facility.

Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care monitors, inspects and regulates every long-term care facility in the province.

A life lease means that you purchase a leasehold apartment in a similar way as you would own a condominium with a few minor differences. As a life-lessor, you are responsible for the upkeep of the property including repairs and maintenance. However, similar to condominium buildings there is a monthly fee for maintenance of common areas (interior and exterior) and services including the insurance and management.

Life lease holders have the exclusive right to occupy the suite they select and to use the common facilities for as long as they desire, however, the actual ownership and title of the life lease development remains in the name of the non-profit organisation.

Further, to ensure that Parkview Meadows continues to be a community of seniors who share common interests, there are certain restrictions on future sales or transfers of the life lease. One such condition is that future owners of the life lease interest must be approved by the owners of the property.

At Parkview Meadows we have 4 different types of accommodation for seniors at different stages of life and with different care needs. What is unique about Parkview Meadows is that our residents have the option of moving from one wing to another as their care needs increase.

  • Brookview and Valleyview offer the same level of independence with seniors (and couples) taking care of themselves (including cooking, cleaning, laundry) but with the added benefit of access to the on site care, amenitities and activities. The difference between the two residences is ownership. Brookview are Lifelease Apartments (similar to ownership of a condominium) whereas Valleyview is for seniors who wish to rent their apartments.

 

  • Southview is more like a hotel experience than an ownership experience. Meals, cleaning and laundry are taken care of. Round the clock supervision and medication monitoring is also provided.

 

  • Gardenview is a long-term care facility for seniors who require greater attention, assistance and supervision. A Registered Nurse is always on duty.
